New Jersey drivers: New Jersey is in the program at the same $1.35 per mile rate. The price formula is identical; only the road miles change.
Why does this lane cost more per mile than a cross-country run? Fixed costs for loading, unloading, and positioning are spread across fewer miles on shorter lanes, and the program rate is all-inclusive, with handling at both ends built in. How long it takes
The transit rule. On standard quotes, Baier figures 400 to 500 miles of driving per day for a loaded car hauler, plus half a day each to load and unload. That puts New York City to Orlando, at about 1,080 miles, at about 4 days once loaded, and New York City to Miami, at about 1,280 miles, at about 4 to 5 days.
The program estimate. Program cars move through Baier's New England–Florida network, from your address up north to your address in Florida. Delivery is estimated within 10 days of pickup. If a delay within Baier's control runs past 10 days, you get a $25 credit per extra day.

Picking up in New York City
A full-size car carrier is a long, heavy truck. In most of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, it cannot turn onto a narrow residential street, stop in a bike lane, or wait in a no-standing zone. General advice for city pickups:
- Pick a meeting point. A wide commercial street, a big-box store parking lot, or a spot near a highway exit usually works better than your front door.
- Avoid rush hours. If you have a say in timing, midday is usually easier for a large truck than morning or evening rush.
- Get the car out of the garage early. If your car lives in a parking garage, confirm the garage's hours and have the car out and ready when the driver calls.
- Keep your phone on. The office confirms your pickup day, and the driver calls with the exact time. Be reachable during the window.
- Know your backup. If the driver cannot reach the agreed spot, have a second location in mind nearby.
Door-to-door service means pickup and delivery as close to your address as a large truck can safely and legally get. In dense cities, that often means a nearby meeting point. Read more on door-to-door transport.
Upstate, on Long Island, and in most of New Jersey, access is usually easier, but the same rule applies: if your street is narrow, has low branches, or a tight cul-de-sac, mention it when you book.
Pickup window and booking timing
You choose a requested date, and pickup happens that day or one day either side. In peak season, the window may shift by up to two days. The earliest bookable pickup is three days from today.
For October through January transport, the recommended time to book is August or September. Peak southbound demand runs October through December. Our snowbird booking timeline walks through each month.
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before your requested pickup; inside 48 hours there is a $25 processing fee.
Who hauls your car
About half of Baier's loads ride on Baier trucks with Baier drivers. The rest move with vetted partner carriers that hold active FMCSA authority and insurance on file, booked under Baier's broker authority (Baier Automotive Logistics, MC 1218658). Baier stays your single point of contact from quote to delivery.
Before pickup
Wash the car so the condition report is accurate, photograph every panel and the odometer, remove personal items, leave about a quarter tank of fuel, and remove or disable your toll transponder. At pickup and delivery, read the bill of lading before you sign.
