The Premium Difference

Every detail matters when transporting high-value vehicles. Here's how we protect your investment.

Fully Enclosed Trailers

Hard-side enclosed carriers protect your investment from weather, road debris, and exposure. Weather-sealed enclosures shield sensitive finishes from the elements.

Detailed Condition Reports

Comprehensive photo documentation at pickup and delivery. Every scratch, ding, and detail recorded so you have full accountability.

Premium Insurance

Enhanced coverage up to $500,000 per vehicle. Your classic or exotic is fully protected from door to door with zero deductible options.

White-Glove Handling

Experienced drivers trained in high-value vehicle handling. Soft tie-downs, wheel nets, and low-angle ramps protect low-clearance exotics.

Vehicles We Specialize In

From million-dollar exotics to beloved barn finds, we handle every vehicle with care.

Classic and vintage automobiles
Exotic supercars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren)
Luxury sedans and grand tourers
Concours and show cars
Rare and limited-production vehicles
Barn finds and restoration projects

Custom builds and kit cars

Why classic and exotic cars usually ship enclosed

The decision is not about how much you love the car. It is about whether the finish can be replaced. On an open carrier a car rides exposed to road dust, rain, bugs and, in the winter months, highway salt. For a daily driver that washes off. For an original-paint survivor, a freshly restored classic or a low-production exotic, a single stone chip can mean a repaint that costs far more than the difference in shipping price.

An enclosed trailer keeps the car out of the weather and out of public view for the whole trip. That discretion matters too: a covered trailer outside a home, a dealership or an auction does not advertise what is inside. And in New England there is a seasonal reason as well. A car heading south in January on an open trailer meets road salt for the whole run down I-95, which on its own is a case for enclosed on a freshly restored vehicle.

Not every enclosed trailer is the same

“Enclosed” covers several kinds of equipment, and the difference matters more than most quotes admit.

  • Soft-side enclosed uses a curtain or canvas wall. It blocks weather and debris but is the lightest-duty option.
  • Hard-side single-level trailers carry 2 to 4 cars in a rigid box and are common for high-end work.
  • Hard-side multi-level with a lift gate carry 5 to 7 vehicles and raise each car on a hydraulic gate instead of a ramp, so low cars load flat without touching a splitter.

Securement differs as well. Quality enclosed carriers use soft nylon straps over the tires only, so nothing metal touches the car. Before you book any enclosed move, ask whether the trailer is hard-side or soft-side, whether it loads with a lift gate or ramps, and what the cargo insurance limit is per vehicle. Our enclosed transport page compares open and enclosed side by side.

What affects the price

Enclosed transport adds 40 to 60 percent to the open price on the same lane. From there, the same factors apply as on any shipment: distance first, then vehicle size, whether the car runs, and how firm the pickup date is. Typical market pricing for enclosed transport on the New England to Florida lane runs roughly $1,400 to $2,400 for a standard car, more for oversized or non-running vehicles, and it moves with the season. The instant quote gives you the price for your ZIP codes and your car.

How long it takes

Baier calculates transit the same way on every lane: 400 to 500 miles of driving per day, plus half a day to load at pickup and half a day to unload at delivery, rounded up to whole days. Enclosed trucks are fewer than open trucks on any lane, so share your dates early, especially for October through December moves to Florida.

Preparing a classic or exotic for transport

  • Tell us the year, make, model and ground clearance when you book, plus any splitter, lowered suspension or aftermarket parts.
  • Photograph every panel, wheel and the interior before pickup, and walk the car with the driver for the condition report.
  • Declare a non-running car as inoperable so a winch-equipped truck is assigned.
  • Leave no more than a quarter tank of fuel, disable aftermarket alarms, and secure any removable top or tonneau cover.
  • Remove personal items and valuables. They are not covered by cargo insurance.
  • Inspect the car before you sign the Bill of Lading at delivery. Damage has to be noted on it at delivery.

Who hauls your car

About half of our loads ride on Baier trucks with Baier drivers. The rest move with vetted partner carriers that hold active FMCSA authority and insurance on file, booked under our broker authority (Baier Automotive Logistics, MC 1218658). Either way, Baier stays your single point of contact from quote to delivery.

Classic and exotic transport questions

Should my classic or exotic car ship open or enclosed?

Ask what a stone chip would mean. If it means a touch-up at a body shop, open transport is usually fine. If it means a repaint that ruins the originality of a survivor car, or a finish you cannot replace, ship enclosed. Concours cars, low-production exotics, fresh restorations and cars with expensive ceramic coatings belong in an enclosed trailer.

How much more does enclosed transport cost?

Enclosed transport adds 40 to 60 percent to the open price for the same lane. Larger vehicles, cars that do not run, and exact pickup dates add to the price on either type of trailer. The instant quote shows your price for your ZIP codes and vehicle.

Can a low-clearance car be loaded without scraping?

Yes, on the right equipment. A hard-side enclosed trailer with a hydraulic lift gate raises the car level instead of driving it up a ramp, so a car with about 3.5 inches of ground clearance loads flat. Tell us the ground clearance when you book so the right trailer is assigned.

What should I ask before I book enclosed transport?

Get three answers in writing before you pay: whether the trailer is hard-side or soft-side, whether it loads with a lift gate or ramps, and what the cargo insurance limit is per vehicle.

Can you ship a classic that does not run?

Yes. Barn finds and project cars ship regularly. The car has to be declared inoperable when you book so a truck with a winch is assigned, and it still needs to roll, steer and brake. Keys still matter: the car usually has to be in neutral with the steering unlocked.

Is top load on an open carrier enough for my car?

Top load puts your car on the upper deck of an open carrier, which avoids drips from cars above and cuts down on road spray. It is a sensible middle option for a nice car that is not irreplaceable. For a valuable classic it is still an open trailer in the rain, so enclosed is the better choice.
